On 5 August 2026, the Faculty of Dentistry at Thammasat University hosted the practical workshop day for the 4th TU Orthognathic Surgery Summit. Dedicated to the theme "Innovations in Orthognathic Surgery and Orthodontics: Shaping the Next Decade of Care", the intensive session brought together specialists across Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for advanced clinical training.

As a technology sponsor, Meticuly provided software tools and physical simulation materials, supporting surgeons through both digital planning and physical execution.

Key Workshop Highlights

  • 3D Virtual Surgical Planning (VSP): Hands-on simulation using Nemofab / NemoStudio software to map complex jaw movements with digital accuracy, led by Asst. Prof. Siripatra Patchanee, DDS, MS.

  • Patient-Specific Instrumentation (PSI): Practical application of bespoke surgical guides tailored to individual patient anatomy, guided by Assoc. Prof. Dr Narissaporn Chaiprakit, D.D.S., Grad. Dip. in Clin. Sc., FRCDS.

  • Minimally Invasive Techniques: Focus on smaller surgical access points, reduced operative duration, and enhanced recovery protocols.

From Digital Simulation to Precision Execution

Modern Orthognathic Surgery relies on seamless integration between pre-operative digital planning and intra-operative delivery. The workshop structured this workflow into two distinct practical phases:

  1. Digital Virtual Surgical Planning (VSP)

Under the expert guidance of Asst. Prof. Siripatra Patchanee, DDS, MS, participants performed 3D virtual surgical planning using the Nemofab / NemoStudio software suite, officially distributed by Meticuly. Surgeons analysed complex skeletal discrepancies and simulated precise bone movements prior to physical intervention.

  2. Hands-On Patient-Specific Instruments (PSI)

Led by Assoc. Prof. Dr Narissaporn Chaiprakit, D.D.S., Grad. Dip. in Clin. Sc., FRCDS, attendees practised bone repositioning using Meticuly’s bespoke surgical guides. The session emphasised how customised instrumentation facilitates minimally invasive orthognathic surgery, reducing manual intra-operative adjustments and protecting adjacent anatomical structures.

"The integration of 3D virtual surgical planning with Patient-Specific Instruments transforms orthognathic surgery into a highly predictable, minimally invasive procedure that drastically reduces operating theatre time."

A Collaborative Future for Oral and Maxillofacial Care

The 4th TU Orthognathic Surgery Summit highlighted a clear consensus: the integration of 3D planning software like Nemofab and patient-specific surgical solutions is no longer the future, it is the present standard of care.

Meticuly remains deeply committed to supporting educational institutions and clinical pioneers. By providing the tools necessary for minimally invasive orthognathic surgery, we are proud to help shape a safer, more predictable, and patient-centred future in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
